(press association telegrams. > TAUPO, September 17. Earthquake shocks commenced last evening about half-pact seven o'clock, followed by numerous earth tremors during the night, and also to-day. They apparently came from a northerly direction, and the mountain has been in eruption at intervals during the day. Evidently the red crater on Tongariro is active, a3 also Tenare and Ngaumhoe. Not the slightest damage is reported locally. WELLINGTON, September 18. The death ia announced of Mr T. 0. iyArcy, a "Wairarapa • pioneer o£ forty-two years' standing. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association proposes te pay a dividend of 8 por cent, and a urihus'of 3 per cent. BLENHEIM, September 18. It is almost certain that a body found in the Opawa river this morning ia that of Harry Satherly, who has' been missing for abdut two months. The clothing and articles found on tne body go to prove hia identification. A post mortem examination will take place this afternoon, and an inquest will be held on Monday.
