An unusual function took place at Wanganui last week, nameiy, the semi-public installation of an luspector for the slaughterhouse of Mr T. Mitchell, an enterprising local butcher. Objecting to join in the Corporation abattoir scheme because lie had large slaughtering premises of his own, MiMitchell asked a Committee of townsmen to select an Inspector, he guaranteeing his salary, and the Committee volunteering to see that there is no collusion between the, proprietor and the Inspector in regard to the latter's duties.
