He left there on the afternooa of May 7th, and, allowing for days he did not travel, he averaged 80 miles per day for twenty-six days. The total distance was about 2100 miles. He was able to carry food and a gailon of water with him. The country on the Wostralian side of the border was mostly very rough, but there was "good pastoral country 600 miles west of Port Augusta. He met a.few blacks, but they were all friendly. The machine was none the worse. The tyres were Dunlop, and were ouly puiiuluiel twice on the journey.
