FIRE.
(PRE.SS ASSOCIATION TiILKGR.Wt.) AUCKLAND, September 16. At 11.20 p.m. a (ire broke out in the large furniture warehouse of Tonsou Gavlick and Co., Quean street, and spread with alarming rapidity. The outbreak of fire was not noticed till smoke was seen issuing from the windows and doors, and ilames shot through the roofing of the rear half of the warehouse. The fire threatens to be serious and destructive. Superintendent H»ighe3 has telephoned for the Grafton'.contingent to come to town. The Company's brick factory on the opposite side of Lome street, where the furniture is made up, is safe.
