FIRE.

WELLINGTON, August 25. A fire broke out to-night in premises at the .corner of Willis street and Lambton Quay, occupied by Mr S. E. Wright, representative of the Ked Bird and other cycles. It evidently originated in the storeroom at the back of the shop, but how is not known. The cycles in the show window were quickly removed, and the Fire Brigade, on arrival, goon had the flames under control. Mr Wright was working in his office until 6.30 and a clerk remained a little later, and when the latter left all appeared safe. The building is tbe property of Bennett's Estate. Considerable damage is done. It was insured, but for what amount is unknown. Mr Wright's insurance on the stock ia £850 in the United and £150 in the Alliance. A large quantity of stock was saved, but at S resent he is unable to estimate his loss. Mr [icholla , tailoring eetablishmonfc, over Wright's, suffered, and Mr Fitzgerald, chemist, almost adjoining, sustained a slight loss.
