FOOTBALL.
RUGBY UNION.
The Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union met at the Clarendon Hotel yesterday. Present—Messrs A. R. G. Rhodes (in the chair), G. H. Mason, W. Walton, J. O. Adams, F. T. Evans, T. M. Buntin, F. E. Asquith, H. Frost, W. G. Garrard, and Captain Meikleham. A letter was received from the Junior Flag Committee atating that in tbe President's Cup match, Christ's College t Merivale 8., as no notice of agreement as to appointment of a referee was received from the teams, they had appointed Mr Daniels referee. Mr Daniels arrived at Lancaster Park before 3 p.m., and found the game already started under another referee. The letter was referred back to the Junior Flag Committee. The question of the interprovincial fixtures was discussed, and the Secretary was instructed to wire to Wellington stating that unless they could alter their fixture with Hawke's Bay and play Canterbury on September 4th it would be impossible to arrange the match.
