ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Dr. Fox, of the Christchurch Hospital, having given a certificate in connection with the death which occurred on Sunday of an out-patient named Williams, an inquest is not necessary.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) HAWERA, August 23. A child named Taylor, aged two years and eight months, was killed by strangulation through getting his head in a wire fence. His mother only missed him five minutes, and when found he was quite dead.

Mrs H. Jull, of the Commercial Hotel, had her leg broken by a fall from a bicyole. WELLINGTON, August 23. Two young men named Petersen and Hansen left Harvey's homestead at Pelorus Sound on August 14th in an open sailing boat, bound for Hopai, and have not been seen since. A dead dog believed to belong to them and two oars have been found washed up on the beach below Fleming's station, where both men had been working. Petersen had been a resident of the Sounds for some years, and Hansen is said to belong to Wellington
DUNEDIN, August 23. A miner named Bobsien dropped dead to-day while working in his claim at Waitahuna Gully.
BLUFF, August 23.
At 2.30 p.m. on Sunday J. McPherson, a refrigerating fireman on the Fifeshire, was struck by the reversing gear. He waa injured internally and succumbed to his injuries at 3 a.m. to-day.
