RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this Counoil was held on Friday evening. There were present—Tho -Mayor (Mr Jennings), Crs. Foster, Carmichael, Good, Keir, and Luxton. Tbe following correspondence was read and dealt with :—From the Lands Deportment acknowledging receipt of the Council's objection to the maintenance of the Kowai-Ashley Ford. A voucher had been passed for the payment of £115 2s lid, subsidy due on last year's •aies. Tbe Secretary to the Metropolitan Cycle Show wrote asking for a copy of by-laws affecting the use of bjoyoies m the borough. The Hawke's Bay Relief Fund accounts were laid upon the table. The Clerk to the Mandeville and Rangiora Road Board wrote applying for the grant of £4 passed by the Council towards protective works on the south bank of the Ashley. It was decided to pay the amount. The financial statement showed receipts lor the month £169 12s sd, debit balance £30 13s lOd. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £67 14s lid. The Council agreed to pay a halfyearly contribution to the Charitable Aid Board of £2115e 6d. Cr. Blackett moved "That it is desirable to purchase a piece of land for a public cemetery for Rangiora, and that aU existing cemeteries in the borough be closed." Alter some discussion the first part of the motion was carried, and a deputation was appointed to wait upon the Mandeville Road Board, to ask them to join in the purchase of the same. Mr E. J. Parrott s tender for the supply of kerosene for the eo-uing year was accepted, and after some miner matUrs were discussed the meeting terminated.
