Pren Aeoolation—By Telegraph—Copyrig-ht Lokdon May 27. Naesim Khan, the Persian, and Chang Yin Hoon, the Chinese, Special Ambassadors appointed to attend the Queen's Jubilee, have arrived in London. Mr Whitelaw Reid, editor-in-chief of the New York Tribune, and exAmerican Minister of Finance, will represent the United States.

A meeting was held in the Library Oxford, on Thursday afternoon to consider the best means of celebrating the Queen's Record Reign. Mr Joseph Pearson, of Burnt Hill, was in the chair. It was decided to. hold the celebration on Monday, 21st June, and have a display of fireworks in Pearson Park, a torchlight procession, and a concert in the Town l__.ll in the evening. Mr Stephen Wild was appointed to arrange about the fireworks, and Mr Ingram to arrange about the concert. The Rev. H. Van Staveren, of Wellington, has received from the Chief Rabbi, in London, _ copy of a service of. prayer and thanksgiving, which it ia desired should be used in every Jewish synagogue throughout the British dominions on Sunday, the 20th proximo. The Executive of the Diamond Jubilee' Committee met at the City Council Chambers at 4 p.m. yesterday.. Present —Mr H- B. Kirk (in the chair), Mesdames Lodge, Ballinger. Guise, Cooper, Misses Pheney and Dunning, and Messrs E. W. Roper, C. Louisson, G. W. Russell, Sorensen, E. Smith and H. 6. Ell, and Dr. Jennings. Mr Russell moved — ''That each Friendly Society taking part in the demonstration be invited to send at least one member to represent them on the Executive.-' The motion was carried. It was decided in future to meet at 7.30 p.m. It was decided to ask the milkmen, carriers, cabmen, bakers, and fishmongers to take part in the procession. The question of appointing an Assistant Secretary was left in the hands of the Finance Committee. The Revs. Father Curnmings and Canon Knowle3 were added to the Executive.

The Sports Committee met at 7.30 p.m. yesterday, at the City Council Chambers. Present—Messrs W. Harris (in the chair), W. R. Mitchell, G. Milne, W. Ballinger, E. Sandford, B. P. Gully, F. Cooper, Samuels, W. Kerr and McSobie and Dr. Jennings.' Apologies tor absence were received from Messrs W. Thompson, Batchelor and Hyman. The Chairman, Dr. Jennings and Mr W. Kerr were appointed a subCommittee to confer . with Lieut.-Colonel Gordon with reference to a military display at the Show Grounds. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to th 6 Volunteers and the Fire Brigade for the assistance they had given to the sports on Queen's Birthday. The name of Mr Bishop was added to the Committee. The date of next meeting was fixed for Wednesday next, at 8 p.m. The officers and brethren of the Conyers Lodge, No. 1916, E.C., intend holding a Masonic social at the Oddfellows' Hall on June 21st, in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee" of her Majesty, The surplus, if any, arising from the social will be handed to some charitable institution. It is intended by the Masons of Lyttelton to hold a special Masonic Service on Sunday, June 20th, at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lyttelton. It wDI be conducted by Bro. Rev. D. J/Murray, and should be a very interesting celebration of the Diamond Jubilee, considering her Majesty's connection with Masonry, through the members of her family. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TK-BGRAM.) DUNEDIN, May 28. -A. deputation from tbe Retailers' Association waited on the Finance Committee of the City Council to determine what 9t6ps should be taken to illuminate the city on Diamond Jubilee Day. It was proposed by the Association that bonfires should be lighted on the Flagstaff, Mount Car"gill, and Signal Hills, and that the County Councils and other local bodies should be asked to arrange for a line of beacon fires from Dunedin. The Mayor said it was intended to illuminate the Town Hall, but he had received no reply to- an inquiry as to whether the Government Offices would be illuminated. A public meeting is to be held on Monday to make definite arrangement..
