(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNE DIN, May 24. The weather was beautiful for the second day of the Dunedin Jockey Club May Meeting, and being a holiday there was a good attendance. The course being in better order the racing was more interesting than on Saturday. A protest against Mauser in the St. Clair Welter lost a good deal of time and delayed the conclusion. The owner was able to convince the" Stewards that the difference in the going and in the weights and class of horses j accounted for his display as compared with hifl running in the Tradesmen's Handicap on Saturday. The amount put through the totalieator was £6259, making £10,185 10s for the meeting, or £682 more than last year. Results :— SECOND HURDLE HANDICAP, of 60 sove; second 10 eovs from the stake. Stewart's b g Clarence, aged, list Sib (F. ilolines) 3 1661, Lobo, lOst 91b, also etarted. Water went off with the lead, but was soon supplanted by Lobo. Opposite the Btand Beimont was in front with Ulster next, the other two having dropped behind twenty lengths. Belmont showed the way to the top of the course, where all but Clarence rapped the hurdles, Belmont led into the back of the course and Clarence went up a Ettle. At the top turn Belmont was three lengths in front of Ulster, behind her being Clarence. Ulster than closed up, end after crossing the last hurdle drew out and won by two lengths. Time, 3mm ssec. A good start, bat Black and Bed hung a little. Telemeter and Lord Roealyn were quickest away, and the latter wae in front passing the stand. In the next fifty yards Stzaihbraan was m front, followed by Lord Roselyn, Telemeter and Mariin. Along the back stretch Lord Roselyn retired in favour of Telemeter and Mariin, while Black and Red wm going up from the rear division. At the half-mile post Telemeter passed Strath Braan and Black and Bed took thizd place. Telemeter showed the way into the .straight, and Mariin made a run bat could never get on terms, Telemeter winning hands down by three lengths, with Lady Bomnns third a similar distance away, Chaos fourth and Strath Braan last.
