VITAL STATISTICS.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, April 15. The following are the vital statistics for the colony for the month of March:—

The total birtli3 in the above-named boroughs amounted to 377, against 319 in February, an increase of 58. The deaths in March were 168, an increase of 11 on the number in February. Of the total deaths, males contributed r 96, females 72. Fifty-five of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 32.74 per cent, of the whole number ; 49 of these were under one year of age. There were 31 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Five men, 67, 70, 73, 82 (two) and two women, 66, 74, died at Auckland; four men, 65 (two), 66, 70, and five women, 66 (two), 67, 86, 89, at Wellington; one man, 67, and four women, 71 (two), 73, 84 at Christchurch ; and seven men, 70, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, 86, and three women, 67, 70, 73, at Dunedin.
