HAGLEY OR THE PEOPLE'S PARK.

TO THK EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sis,—-The idea of beautifying our Park as a memento of our Queen's long and happy r&gn is, in tHe opinion of myself and all with whom I have discussed the subject, one that should be seriously entertained. The lady who proposed the scheme at a recent. meeting deserves our thanks and hearty co-operation in furthering such a work, that will be a boon to the living and a fitting acknowledgment to the future generations of our loyalty to our lady Queen Victoria, and our wisdom in spending our money. , What -jvlH it benefit if we put into a contraotor's - hands a job to add a wing to the Jubilee Home? Nothing. It will give work to tbe carpenters, already too busy. The Park will not require skilled labour, any unemployed can lend a hand. Again, when finished it may. bo enjoyed by all, old and young, while in the Jubilee cage a few aged people will be added, and our effort- to perpetuate the Record Reign will be swallowed up by the Jubilee Home, as that institution will still be known as such. Yes, we will have a nice Park. A fine museum and a grand cathedral has been left; us by our fathers, what better oan we have worthy to be esteemed by our children than a beautiful Park. Put the work m hand; go to the loiterers around the posts and corners of Cathedral square and say, " We have work for you."-—Yours, &_., Vox POPIJLL
