SENIOR CUP MATCHES.

LANCASTER PARK v UNITED. This match was brought to a conclusion at Hagley Park on Saturday, when the weather left nothing to be desired and there was a fair attendance. The play proved very interesting until close to the finish, first one side and then the other appearing to have the better show, the Park ultimately winning by five wickets. The day's play was started by Clark and Wigley continuing the United's second innings, the score being 43 for seven wickets. Wigley at once commenced scoring freely and principally owing to his efforts the total was advanced to 77 before Clark was bowled. Wilson made a single while his partner added 10 to his score and then lost his wicket to North. Frankiali was the last man, and he and Wigley took the score to 113 before the latest comer was run out, leaving Wigley to carry out his bat for a veilgot 54. The Park fielded well, but the bowlers did not appear so difficult as on the previous {Saturday. Wanting 123 to win, the Lancastrians made a very bad start, as H. C. Ridley was run out when only a single had been made, and North followed him to the pavilion with the score unaltered. At 21 both A. Ridley and Mahar left, and only 44 had been recorded when Wilding was disposed of. At this point it seemed as if the United would win, but on Fowke and Hasell becoming associated ten after ten were slowly but surely knocked up, and just on the call of time the pair had made tho required number of runs, giving their side the victory as above stated. Both men played good cricket, and they were heartily applauded on returning to the pavilion. Frankish. bowled steadily, but none of the other trundlera made much impression. The fielding was first-class all round. Scores: — UNITED. First innings ... ... •" 234 Second Innings. A. Sims, b Bates ... ... ... 19 G. Marshall, c Fowke, b Bates ... 1 R. D.
