WEASELS.
Our Ashburton correspondent writes f— A nest containing four young weasels was recently found on a farm within six miles of the town of Ashburtorii The "natural enemies" were promptly destroyed. A dog had some days previously been seen in an excited state chasing a strange animal down alongside a gorse fence, and a cool-headed, quick - sighted Scotchman exclaimed— "That's a weasel ! It's the first I have, seen since leaving Scotland." He further remarked— " That's where all our fowls have gone to lately." He had been losing a lot of young poultry in what appeared a mysterious manner, but as soon as he saw. the weasel . the problem was solved.
