TntTRSDAY, December 17. There was c. large entry ot stock and • good attendance. Fat Cattle.—Tho on try of fat cattle waa one of the largest seen in the yards, no less than 310 head baing penned, and the bulk consisted of prime steers and heifers. . The 3iipply was, however, so much in excess of the demand that prices suffered a decided decline, prime beef bringing only 16a to 18s 6d per lOOlbs, and second quality 12s 6d tc 15s per lOOlbs. Steers sold at £4 2s 6d to £10, heifers £4 2s 6d to £G 17s 6d, and cowa £3 2s 6d to £8 ss. Daiuy and Store Cattle.—There was a larger entry of dairy cows than usual but they again met with a somewhat dragging sale at all prices from £3 10s to £6 17s 6d. The store cattle pens were filled with a good entry of mixed young stocky but there was little dehiand, and but few sales were made. Pigs.—There was a medium yarding ot pigs, and for anything prime in fats there was a good demand ; stores,, which formed a large portion of the entry * being easier. Bacouers and porkers made from to 3Jd per lb for prime sorts and down to 3d for medium quality. The range of values per head was—Baconers 29s to 43s 6d, porkers 16s to 255, and stores 7s 6d to 15s. Store Sheep—There were only a few email lots of store sheep yarded, for which there was not much demand shown. Crossbred ewes and lambs sold at 3s Id, 5s 6d, and 5a 10d, hoggets 7s 6d, and crossbred wothora 3s 4d. ~ . Fat Lambs—There was a heavy yarding of fat lambs and keen competition for freezers, but prices throughout were not up to last week's rates. Freezers sold at 10s 6d to 13s 6d, and secondary sorts at 6s 6d to 10s. Fat Sheep—There was an average yard* ing of fat sheep, the bulk being crossbred ewes, and only ono line of exhibition shaep for Christmas purposes. The sale was dull throughout, and prices for all descriptions, especially crossbred ewes, were easier, Extra prime Southdown wethers 17s to 19a. crossbred wethers made 9s 6d to 12s, maiden ewes 8s 6d to 8s 10d r best crossbred ewee 7a 6d to 10s, medium 6s to 7s, inferior 4s 6d to 5s 6d, merino wethers 4s 7d to 6s 6d.
