THE RINGDOVE COURT MARTIAL.

TO THE EDITOR OP THE PRESS. Sir, —I wae amazed to read in your paper that a mariner belonging to H. M.S. Ringdove had received three years' imprisonment for striking a petty officer, perhaps a petty tyrant for all we know. Can we call eucu a sentence British justice ? No, it is monstrous, and strongly savouring of the rack and the thumbscrew of bygone days. Much has been written and sung about " Who are so free as the sons of the waves ? " and " Ye Mariners of England," &0., &c. A nice mariner of England will this poor Jack be after do ng three years, and all for striking a petty officer.— Yours, &c, Antediluvian.
