AUCKLAND, March 9. The United Methodist Free Cnurch District Meeting to-day passed resolutions protesting againHt the existence of the C.D. Act, and urging ministers to take a vigorous stand against its provisions being put into force, and also assertiug the right of the people to vote directly for the continuance or abolition of the liquor traffic; that the present education system is excellent, but that selections from the Bible, known as the Scripture Text Book, should be introduced into the curriculum. A protest against gambling was also carried, including a protest against the Government sanction of the totalizator.
