LANE'S MILL.

TO THE EDITOR OV THE PRESS. Sir, —I understand that the City Council think seriously this evening of discussing the question of purchasing the rat warren in Hereford street known as Lane's Mill, the owner having generously placed it under offer to the citizens for the modest sum of £800. We Christchurch folk are no doubt very soft, but I hardly think we are so flush of funds just now that we can afford to tnrow our money away on a tumble-down rookery that would uod produce five bob a month, even if it were nicely whitewashed and the rat-holes carefully plugged vp —Yours, &c, Old Chum.
