CABINET MEETINGS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TK-E-RAM.) WELLINGTON, February 18. The Cabinet business yesterday waa confined purely to departmental business aud this morning defence matters were under discussion. In oonneotion with cade is in the Public Service joining tho volunteer service, the Minister for Defenoe states that the intention is that all cadets in the service shall, on attaining the age of eighteen; be compelled to enter a volunteer company for the period of three years. Mr Seddon points, out that it has come to his knowledge that private; employers have granted greater facilities to their employees who are members of Volunteer corps to attend parades, oamps, &o. 9 and iustruotion is to be issued to the heads of all branches ot tbe servioe that* io fufcure, the Volunteer movement is to bi facilitated in every possible manner. Further Cabinet meetings were to be held this afternoon and to-night. The Hon. J. G-. Ward leaves for the South tomorrow. It is probable that the Governor aud the Hon. J. Carroll will not start forth* Uriwera Country until Thursday.
