ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

o A man named Bishop, residing at Lyt teltou, was out in an open boao in thi stream yesterday, and, when off Gollan't Bay, he was caught by a heavy puff of tin nor'wester. The boat was capsized, auc Bishop climbed on to the top of it. The accident was witnessed from tho Artillery Barracks by a member of the Permanen Artillery named Puvitt, who immediately started for Lytteltou, a distance of abouc £ mile, and gave the alarm at the Police Station. Sergeant Kntiedge informed Mi Mark Thomasj owner of the steam lauuet Canterbury, who immediately steamed t« the scene of the accident, and towed the boat to the wharf. Main, and William Hooke j who had been fishing to-day in an opat boat off Kaiwarta, were returning eailj this eveuiug, when a squall caught the boa! between Kaiwarra and Thorndon esplanade and capsized her. All the men hung ou tc the boat until she righted heneit, when Main lost his hold and was drowned. The others were picked up. Main was fortyfive years of age, a meonautcal engineer, and Secretary of the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Sooioty of Engiueers.
