CHURCH SERVICES AND DECORATIONS.
HOLY TRINITY, AVONSIDE. This antique little oh arch was decorated with the usual taste. The font was wreathed with koromiko, interspersed with scarlet and white flowers, and sqrmounted with a cross of Christmas lilies. The gas standards were wreathed with ivy and beautified with an abundance of flowers. The lectern was tastefully wreathed. A temporary chancel screen added much to the beauty of the decorations. The choir stalls were outlined with evergreens and flowers, aud the windows both in the nave and chancel worn relieved with masses of colour, scarlet aixl white flowers only being used throughout, the church. The festival was inaugurate.l with a carol service at 8 p.m. of ChristinaEve, the programme comprising "The Celestial Flower," "Carol, Sweetly Carol, , ' •'Good News VVe Bring and Peace." "To Bethlehem's City," " Tne Prince of Peace." On Christmas Day the fir»t celebration of Hely Communion wat> at 7 a.m. The choral ' celebration was at 8.15 a.m.. the office being 1 sang to Simper in F. At 11 a.m. there was full choral matins with celebration, the anthem being "Sing, O Heavens." by Caleb Simper; , The vicar officiated at all the services, which were very well attended, acd there was a large number of communi- \ cant*.
