The North Otago Times publishes the following paragraph :—" The farmers from various parts of the district, who visited us oa Saturday assert that they have never seeu the crops iv such a healthful-looking condition. The weather ia now tine aua warm, aud seems to have settled down to real summer and harvest-ripeuing weather. ; The crops are healthy and heavy, and the yield 'should. Be considerably above the . average of the last three .or four years. Even the late crops, which at one time were almost worthless, are now about; as good as those sown early. Farmers generally are hopeful, and so they ehould be, lor there is every appearance of their being able to pull up some of the leeway/of the recent untoward seaaong. What adde to their hopefulness ia that the price for wheat is likely to be a good one, and that, with a large yield, must be very gratifying to the farmers and producers of this district."
