WOOL SALE.

The second wool sale of this season's series, under the auspices of the Christchurch Woolbrokers' Association, was held yesterday, in the Oddfellows' Hall, Lichfield street. There was a good attendance of buyers and of those interested in the sals. A total of 8491 bales were offered, the wool being somewhat lighter and brighter than that srbmitted last month. The tone of the market was decidedly firmer, and competition was much morn spirited than at the previous sale. Merinos showed an advance of from a half-penny to threefar things ; croßsbreds and longwools were about a half-penny better. .The following were the total number of bales offered by each firm, together with the number disposed of:—D. Thomas, 1009, sold 712 ; Geo. King and Co., 34, aoid 28; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, 1166, Bold 820; D*li*ety and Company, Limited, 398, sold 282 ; H. Matson and Co., 1372, sold 945; Pyne and Co., 1395, sold 1071; Friedlauder Bios., 510, sold 285; F. C. Tabarr, 323, sold 283; J. T. Ford and Co., 148, sold 96; New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited, 2138, sold 1571. Total offered, 8491; total sold, 6093. The range of prices was as follows :—Greasy crossbred 6d to Bsd, crossbred ewe 6i to BJd, crossbred hogget 6£d to 9d, crossbred wether up to B£d; first cross ewe 6Jd to B£d, first cross hogget 6d to B£d, half bred 6Jtd to B£d, halfbred ewe b£d to B£d, halfbred hoggets 6d to Bjd, threequarterbred ewe 7£aS>o 8&d, three-quarter-bred hogget' 6£d to 81, long wool 6£d to B|d, Lincoln np to Bd, Leicester 7d to Bd, merino 5d to 7£d, merino ewe 4£d to 7d, first pieces 5d to 7d, second do 2£d to 4|d, bellies 3£d to 6d, bellies and pieces 3d to 6£d, locks and pieces 2£d to 4d, locks 2d to 3|d, dead wool 5d to 6£d, scoured first clothing crossbred 12jd, super, halfbred 12|d.
