HURUNUI RABBIT BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Hurunui Rabbit Board was held at Culverden on December 7th. Present—Mr W. O. Rutherford (Chairman), and Messrs G. Mcßae, E. D. Gilea, and W. T. Robinson. Messrs G. MoLeod, James Henderson, J. C. Huddleston, and J. Concannon also were present. Mr James Henderson read a copy of bis .diary for the past month, giving in detail tbe result of his inspection of the oountry, and tbe number of rabbit* which had been reported to him. Mr Q. MoLeod's report also was read. A letter from Mr A. Earshmann was read, in whioh he stated that Mr W. H. Burton was again leaving or having the gates in the rabbit fence left open and tied back, so that -they cannot be easily closed. The Clerk was instructed to write acknowledging receipt of Mr Earshmann's letter without comment; also to write to Mr W. H. Burton, asking him for an explanation ; also to write to Mr J. D. Ritchie, Chief Inspector ofStook, again protesting that the Board consider that Inspector Huddlestone'a expenses when travelling in the Board's district on rabbit business should be paid by tbe Department from the sheep rates, in the aame manner as in other districts where there is no Rabbit Board. Mr J. Concannon aaksd the Board to have the open trench trodden in where the Board's fence was recently removed from tbe boundary. The Clerk waa instructed to direct Caretaker Milner to effect this work. Mr Robinson apologised for Mr T Chapman, to whom leave of absence was granted.
