In the Chamber, during a debate on the Niger disputes, the French Colonial Minister said the offensive period in the French colonial policy was past, and now follows peace without extending their possessions. TINNED MEAT FOR THE NAVY. The Chamber of Deputies decided to introduce tinned meat among the supplies to the Navy. This will not operate until the beginning of 1897, and the meat must be wholly of French production.
