SPREYDON.

The adjourned annual meeting of the Spreydon Board was held on Thursday, July 4th. Present—All the members of the Board and seven ratepayers. The Chairman explained that the balance sheet had been prepared some time, but owing to pressure of work the auditors had not been able to audit it. He then read the balance sheet as follows :—Receipts—Balance 31st March, 1894, £51 7s lid • Government subsidy, £162 4a9d ; Selwyn County Council £4 18s od, refunds legal expenses £11 17s 6d, refunds sundry account £5 18* lOd, rent £10 15s, commission from other Boards £19 lis 7d, rates £355 6s; total, £562 0s Id. Expenditure—Roads, bridges, &c., £217 15s 9J, lighting £28 15s 4d, Boundary road £26 16s 7d, official tools, &c, £32 2s Bd, printing, &c., £16 2sod, salaries £50, small birds nuisance £4 16s Bd, sew o_c« £63 8s 3d,

legal expenses £1 lis 4d, charitable aid £55 13s id, unemployed £15, balance in hand and Bank £49 17a lid ; total £562 9s id. The balance sheet was adopted. The ordinary meeting of tbe Board was then held. The Works Committee reported that they had engaged D. Murphy to cart shingle from the pit and put on the roads. The roadman reported that all the broken metal had been carted out. It was resolved —That any ratepayer requiring more than six yards of shingle from the pit must apply to the Board. A letter waa read from the Sydenham Borough Council re pathway at Mrs Dona's. The Clerk was directed to write to the Council and also to Mrs Dorm. Mr Haudisidea moved— '* That a rate of five-eighths of a penny in the £ be made and levied for the year ending 31st March, 1896, also drainage and Waimakariri rates in accordance with special orders from those Boards, the whole to become due 4th day of July, 1895." Mr Murphy's tender for metal screenings at 4s 4d per yard was accepted. Mr Murphy's tender for carting was accepted.
