NEW PLYMOUTH, May 29. ' Payable petroleum has beeu struck a. the breakwater. The oil expert reports that ho obtained 160 gallons of the -_«*• quality on Tuesday aud 80 gallons this morning, when ho had to stop pumping « he had no more barrels to fiil. X ue drawback is thas sea water comas into thi well, and prevents the oil from flowing aa it should. A new bore will be commenced some distance inland in about fourteen days, in order to avoid tho sea water. The present boro is ouly about one hii__- e ;| yards from high water mark. A large Company will be floated in Sydney to pi,down a considerable number of bores, Tha expert will take ten barrels of oil with him to Syduey on Saturday next.
