SYDENHAM v CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
This match was played at Lancaster Park last Saturday, and resulted in a win for Sydenham by 9 points (three tries) to nothing. The game was fairly even until half way through the second spell, when Sydenham had a good deal the best of it. The first spell was a series of passing rushes on the part of the College, answered by some dribbling rushes from the Sydenham forwards. Joll gained a try for the latter, from which no goal was kicked. The spell ended without further score. The second spell was a good deal faster. The Sydenham forwards gained ground by their dribbling, and after a time the Sydenham backs got into good working order, and getting on some good passing rushes McArthur secured a try for them, from which no goal was kicked. Shortly after Reese scored a try by a good run, no goal also resulting. Besides those above mentioned, Glennie. Dardis and Hall were abtut the best, while Atkinson, Banks, Buchanan, backs, and Sale, Burt and Gray, forwards, were most prominent for the College.
