AUCKLAND AUXILIARY ASYLUM.

(press association telegram.)

AUCKLAND, May 21. A number of carpenters, bricklayers and plasterers waited upon the Hon. W. Jennings, M.L.C., and asked him to represent to the Premier, who is also Minister for Public Works, the desirability of getting the Auxiliary Asylum at Auckland, recently destroyed by fire, re-erected on the co-ope-rative principle. The deputation represented about 100 men. The Premier replied to-day as follows:—"The application to have the work done as suggested will receive the favourable consideration of the Government, and I will bring the matter before my colleagues. Instructions have been given to have plans and specifications prepared forthwith."
