Wednesday, February 6.
(Before S. B. Webb, Esq., J.P.) Absent Without Leave.— Charles Foy, a seaman on board the barque Durisdeer, was charged with deserting the vessel. He {(leaded guilty to being absent without cave, but denied that he had deserted the barque. Mr Nalder appeared for Captain Webster, whose evidence was to the effect that accused came out of gaol on Friday last after having served seven days for refusing dnty. Accused went on board the barque that day, but did not start work, and left again the same day without leave. He had not been seen on board since, and was arrested in Christchurch. Accused was sentenced to a month's imprisonment.
