LINWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An ordinary meeting of the Linwood Borough Oounoil was held tat night. Pre-■ent—-The Mayor (Mr J. R. Brant) and ... Ore. Penticoat, Joe. Taylor, Jno. Taylor, J* 0. Atkinson, D. Duncan and H. Pearce. Apologies were received for the absence If Crt. fioreley, Board and Marshall. . A latter vu read from the Commissioner of Crown l<ands, enclosing a circular on. the question of fair rent. The latter was received. The Mayor moved—"That tenders, be invited for removing night soil throughout the borough at a lump sum per quarter." Cr. Pentecost seconded the motion, trhich was carried. It was resolved—•' That the member of the district be written to with a..view of obtaining, his assistance to get improved, postal facilities for the borough, the present arrangements being very unsatisfactory." „ The Finance Committee reported * that the receipts since last meetinghad amounted U> £346 6» ?<l; the debit balance at the bank was £114 7a 7d, and cash in hand £73 9e BJ, and recommended payment of ♦OJonnta amounting to £255 9a 7d.
