ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Yesterday afternoon Mr Frederick Keys, of Ball's road, Opawa, was taking a loaded gun out of a trap when the weapon wasj accidentally discharged, and the shot struck Mr Keys in the left wrist. He was driven to the hospital, where the injured hand was amputated.
(PBKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NAPIER, January 21. A narrow escape from drowning occurred on Saturday afternoon near the eastern pier. Several girls were bathing, when one of them named Nellie Prebble got beyond her depth, and becoming exhausted by her struggles could not gain the hind through the force of the backwash. A boy named John Palmer, who' -was- fishing near by, hearing the cries for help, plunged into tfre sea and brought the girl ashore. Palmer is a son of Archdeacon Palmer, of the Melanesian diocese.
