WELLINGTON ANNIVERSARY.

(PRESS ASSOOIATIOK TKLEGBAM.) WELLINGTON, January 21. Everything promises well for to-morrow's regatta. The weather has every appearanceof keeping fine. At presenta very light scutberly wind is blowing. The Waitangi has been stiffened by the addition of about lOowt of lead ballast, and now stands up to her canvas in much better style. Should a moderate breeze be blowing Waitangi will probably darry off the prize. Very light weather is most favourable for Pastime, while if the breeze is very strong there seems to be a general impression among yachting men that Mascotte is bound to win. - The Club announces that it will be able to pay- all prizes in lull. To-morrow, Annniversary Day, will be observed as a close holiday. In addition to the first day's racing of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting and the (Dhampionehip Yachting Regatta, the Friendly Societies hold a gala ,day on the Basin Reserve, and the Wairarapa Association hold their annual meeting at Greytown. There are also a. number of minor fixtures. There is at present every appearance of a fine day, but if the light southerly wind continues, it will not be '"satisfactory' for the large yachts.
