TELEGRAPH LINE INTERRUPTION.
Prat AaeooUtlon— By Telegraph—Copyright Adelaide, January 21. The interruption on the Port Darwin telegraph line was caused by heavy floods at Warrina t north of the Strangway Springs, where the river is now running a mile wide. The lineman, after being in the water for five hours, succeeded in getting a wire across, bub as he was about to haul it clear of the water, it caught in a eneg, ond operations had to be suspended ewing to darkness setting in.. An effort will be n>ade to get the wire hoisted clear of the water early to-day. Later. Communication with Port Darwin is atill interrupted, and no assistance can be rendered by the Western Australian lines. This morning a repairing party managed to patch up the line at Strang way's Springs, but they then found the line had also been washed away at Peake, eighty miles further on. It is hoped that this break will be repaired to-morrow. Perth, January 21. The northern telegraph line Is still interrupted.
