OUR INDUSTRIES.
TO THK EDITOR OB THE PEE3S. Siß, —" Protectionist's " letter in your issue of to-day calls for a reply, which we very willingly give. In the early days we imported all our stationery from London, as the colonial productions were of a very inferior class. Twenty-two years agt instructions were given that no more stationery was to be imported, and that all required must be purchased from local manufacturers. These instructions were rigidly adhered to for a period of twenty years. .. About two years ago a commercial traveller called on us soliciting orders, and stated that he had done our work for years, while iv the employ of the local firm which supplied us, but that he had left that firm to represent a Brisbane houße, and would like to have an opportunity of showing wh&t his new employers could produce. The result was a very small order for billheads now in use.— Yours, &c, Ross and Glen dining, Christchurch, 17th January, 1895.
