Mjsckixajceops.—The following persons were fined:—X. Matheson, for allow* ing a hone to wander, 53; J. Farland, for infringing the street crossing by-law, sa; Richard Hartshorn, for breach of the peace, 5a ; Jas. Mason, for riding iv a railway first-class carriage having only a secondclass ticket, 10s.
Protectiox Osdeb.—An order was granted protecting the property of Sarah Stevens, against her husband, Cornelius Edward Stevens, on tho ground of his having failed to provide their family with adequate means ot' support. Maintenance. —Maurico Fitzpatrick was charged with being in arrears, £3 15s, on an order to pay 10s per week towards the maintenance of his four children. It was proved that in seven months bo had given his wife only £1 15s ; also that having earned £1 8a at Fletcher, Humphreys and Co.'s fire, he spent it mostly in drink. He now produced a number of witnesses, who spoke of his general good character and as to his havine exhausted all means to get work. Oα Mr Ballinger, who was one of his witue3ses, undertaking to try to find him work, the case was adjourned till December 12th. — Thomas Fuss, for failing to pay up on an order for the maintenauco of his family, was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour.— Alexander McDonald, charged with having failed to provide his wife and four children with adequate Bupport, did not appear, and a warrant for his arrest was ordered to issue. —By arrangement John Mcllroy and Gabriel Mcllroy were ordered to pay 5a per week towards the support of their mother Susan Mcllroy. — The application of Elizabeth Beatty for an affiliation order against Ernest May was refused, there not being sufficient corroboration of the applicant's statement.
