NEW ZEALAND RIFLE AS SOCIATION.

Tbe circular recently issued by Major Sotnmerviile, relative to the affiliation of Rifle Clubs with the New Zealand Rifle Association, and a competition for the bronze medal of the Association, has been unanimously approved by members of the Council and warmly supported by many of the Rifle Corps and Rifle Clubs, applications being received daily for affiliation. A circular is now being forwarded to all corps giving full details for the competition for the bronze medals. The ranges are 200 and 500 yards, seven shots at each range ; four competitions, the three highest to count; rifles, Martini and Snider. It is understood that the ' usual Government grant to the. Association will be made thia year,'and the programme is being drafted. With the affiliation of the Rifle Clubs the membership of the Association will be largely increased, and Major Bom* merville anticipates that the next gathering will be one of the. largest since the Exhibition meeting. Kynoch and Co. give a handsome trophy, and 3000 rounds of ammunition.
