AN AMATEUR CYCLIST.
A case is before the New Zealand Cyclist Alliance that should put cyclists on their guard concerning their amateur status. An amateur of eighteen years' standing, by thoughtlessly pacing for a professional, or cash amateur, broke his status, and.though he was the first to bring notice of the matter before the governing body, the Alliauce fouud by its rules that he must apply in the ordinary form for re-instating, willing as it apparently was to exonerate him. The breach occurred at Duuedin in the twenty'four hours'contest, the cyclist in question on the spur of the moment assisting, when none others were present or willing to assist a competitor who was fagging.
