Thomson, Colombo street, and resides with his father at Woolston. . His statement is to the effect that about a quarter to eight o'clock he was standing not far from his father's orchard when he saw three men, two of whom were armed with guns. He went over and met one, unarmed,, coming out of the orchard with his hat and pockets full of apples. The two other men with the guns then joined their companion and moved away. Wise went after them, and in reply to a question as to what they were doing two guns were pointed at him, with the remark " What are you doing here yourself." Wise moved quickly away, and the trio went on. Wise, however, followed them foraboutamile to the outlet of the big drain near Stanmor* read. The men here stopped again and approached him. The biggest one of the three, who was about 23 years of age, came forward, pointed his gun at Wise, and using, ib is alleged, disgusting and threaten—g language said, "I'll shoot you dead if you don'fc stop following us." The man almost immediately put down the gun, and assuming a fighting attitude kicked Wise on the leg, and said he would ** make him use his maulers." Wise thinking it safest to leave the men alone turned and ran home. He states that he could identify his assailants, and merely followed them to " get a good look ab them." The police are inquiring into the matter. Both men carrying guns had rabbit akin* hanging from their belts at the time they were first accosted by Wise.
