ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
On Thursday, as Mr T. Dryburgh, representative for Messrs Edwards, Bennetts and Co., was driving towards Waiau from Culverden, and was nearing one of the steep bluffs which narrow the road after passing Rotberham, tbe horse shied at a mob of sheep and fell over tbe embankment, turning the vehicle, which held two large travelling trunks, completely over. Mr Dryburgh, though much shaken, was not seriously hart, and was able, with assistance, to right the vehicle and proceed on his journey. Inspector Broham yesterday afternoon received word from Constable Costin, Rangiora, to the effect that Mr Philip Brady, who on Wednesday lost was injured by being knocked down by a trap, died yesterday at ten minutes to twelve i o'clock. Drs. Clayton and Volckman are of j opinion that death was caused by rupture of an artery in the thigh. 1 (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) I AUCKLAND, March 9."* j A boy, named Louis Black, aged eight, was drowned this morning while bathing in the harbor. Chas. S. "cred 22, was killed this morning iv a gravel pit at Three Kings. A large boulder of scoria fell upon him. He was working alone and it was some time before it was _nown that the accident occurred. His father owns the pit in which deceased worked. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 9. A sudden death occurred to-night. A man named Hogan, resident of Wanganui, with his wife,came up by the through train. He had been unwell during the journey, and expired just as the train reached New Plymouth station. Hogan was at onetime a resident of Auckland, being connected with the Kohimarama Industrial SchooL A severe accident happened at Eltham, a man named Orbell narrowly escaping death from the kick of a horse. As it was, he had his nose smashed and his face cut j severely. j WELLINGTON. March 9. The two year old *oa of Mr Geo. Townsend, of MostertoD, was shot through tbe j stomach while playing with an old revolver j which auothei child of three had found lying about. -Hi* condition ia critical.
