-•«- (PRESS ASSOCIATION TBLEORAM.I WELLINGTON, March 8. The vital statistics for the principal towns of the colony for the month of February, 1894, show the total number of births and deaths, and the proportion of deaths to 1000 of the population, to have been as

amounted to 389, against 463 in January, a decrease of 74. The deaths in February were 211, an increase of 2 on the number in January. Of the total deaths males contributed 117, females 94- Ninety-two of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 43.06 per cent, of the whole number, and 78 of these were under one year of age.
