ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

-s— — On Wednesday a little daughter of Mr Mark Scott, of the Junction Hotel, Rangiora, fell over the bannister and down a staircase of 18ft, but was only slightly bruised on the back. On Wednesday M> Philip Brady, o? Loburn, met with an untoward accident in the yard of the Cumberland Boarding-house, at Raugiora. He was, with the assistance of Mr Crysell, yoking a young horse to a dray when a dog driving sheep past Startled the horse, which swerved on to Mr Brady, knocking him down and treading oil one of his thighs, the wheel of tha 4r»y being also drawn over him. He was conveyed into the boarding-house, where every attention was shown to him, and Drs. Clayton and Volckman were called into attendance. Enquiries on Wednesday elicited the fact that Mr Brady is in a serious condition owing to the supposed rupture of one of the arteries of the leg. He is a man advanced in years and has a wife and large family. (press association telegram.) DUNEDIN, March 8, William Young Spears, married, aged sixty-one, residing in Russell street, died of heart disease this morning. A dead body was found to-day in the Molyneux, below Beaumont. It is supposed to be that of a lad named Campbell, drowned at Loburn on February 18th. AUCKLAND, March 3. Wm, Leatrange, a labourer, fell off the wharf this afternoon. A sailor of the barque Taihiti named Greenaway tried to rescue him, and held up his body while a boat came, but life was extinct. NAPIER, March 8. David R&e, a carpenter, aged about sixty, died suddenly while reading a paper at the Star Hotel last night. At the inquest it was shown that death was due to heart disease.
