OBSTRUCTIVE NATIVES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TIJLEGEAM.) AUCKLAND, March 8. The Opuatia dispute has again taken a fresh turn. The Natives who were fined refused payment. Constables White, Hobson and JdcGovern, finding the Natives who had not paid their fines, with others, were camped opposite Mercer, went across the Hver to execute warrants and arrest them.. Kerei K&kahu said the police would have tp take all prisoners iirsc before the men sought would be let go. Kerei Kakahu's wife got very uemonstvative, and the Natives and women closed in around the police and jostled therm rinding it - impossible to execute the Warrants the police retired to Mercer and informed the authorities. Inspector Hick*on arrives from Russell by the Clansman to-morrow morning. "Twenty constables reinforced by the police of the country stations and-Permanent Artillery, under Lieutenant Hume, go up to Mercer by the 9.30 train. Warrauts have been executed for the arrest of KereKakahu and his wife.
