THE GOTHIC.
The White Star liner Gothic sailed from Wellington for London via Rio yesterday afternoon. Shs leaves on her maiden trip from the colony under the most auspiciouscircumstances, being a full ship both as regards passengers and cargo. She has 106 passengers iv the saloon, and 57 in the Steerage, and takes 64.832 carcases mutton and lamb, besides 10,673 legs of lamb. An effort will be made to break the record time between New Zealand and Loudon, and she js expected to accomplish tbe voyage in thirty-six or thirty-seven days. Among her passengers are Sir George Grey, Colonel Pat Boyle (late Private Secretary to the Governor), Miss Wauchope (of the Government House party), and Mr W. Shephard Allen and family, of Auckland. Sir George Grey states that he really has no plans ia regard to his visit to England. He has taken advantage of the Gothic's trip in the hope that the sea air and complete rest may restore his health somewhat. If his health is sufficiently restored, he will probably come back again by the return trip of the Gothic; but he may remain longer at home. In the meantime he will not resign his seat while there is a, chance of his being out iv New Zealand again to take up his legislative duties next session.
