SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting ot the West Lyttelton Committee was held on Monday evening. Present — Captain Willie (Chair* man), Rev. E. TE. Chambers, and Messrs Gordon, Baker, Arnold, Webb, and Ashley. It was resolved to write to the" Board of Education pointing out the! dangerous state of the existing fence between Mr J. Thompson's and the school, end refusing in the ease of accident to be held responsible. It was resolved to write to the Sanitary Committee of the Lyttelton Borough Council and draw their attention to the very defective and unhealthy condition of the drains in West Lytfcelton, especially those in Voelaa road and adjacent} to the public school. In view of the decrease in attendance consequent upon the prevalence of diptheria, it was decided to close the school for a week. The meeting then terainated.
