ASHBURTON.
Saturday, February 24. (Before Mr W. G. Rees, J.P., and Mr J. W. Sawle, J.P.) A Batch of Inebriates.—On charges of drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and resisting the police, John MoLennan was fined 10s, or forty-eight hours in addition to a month's' imprisonment without the option of a fine. William, O'Brien waa eonfenced to seven days' imprisonment without the option of a fine. One first offender was fined 10s, and a second Ordered to pay expenses and cab hire. William Burns, for drunkenness and violently resiating the police, was sent to gaol for a month, Henry A. Hill, on charges of drunkenness and vagrancy, was sentenced to one week's imprisonment. William Donovan was charged with assaulting Constable Moor. It appears that the constable had met accused about midnight, and on asking him why it was he was not away to hia tent, Donovan struck' the constable a violent blow on the forehead with a atone.. Accused was sentenced to three months'imprisonment. G.Antonio .< was remanded for a week on a charge of j vagranoy.
