The prizes won by the Kaiapoi Volunteer Cadets wiil be presented this evening. There is now on view in tbe shop of Mr C. Ketterer, watchmaker, Lyttelton, two handsome gold and one silver medal, which were won by the Lyttelton Rowiug Club's crew in tlie late regatta in the senior double sculls. The medals were presented to the Committee by the Mayor of Lyttelton, Mr J. Thompson. The usual fortnightly race of the Brighton Sailing Ciub will be decided ou Saturday afternoon. Arrangements have also beeu made to sail the annual interclub match with the Christchurch Club, when Aone, Waitangi, Alcione, Petrel, Wallabi and Ariadne will represent the Brighton Club. The matron of the Queen's Jubilee Memorial Home desires to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of magazines from Mr Brittaiu, illustrated papers from the Pioneer Bicycle Club, apples Horn a friend, fish from Mr Warnes.

By an error the date of the opening of the shooting season was reported as having beeu carried for the first Thursday in April. It should have been the first Monday.

Last night the usual weekly excursion to New Brighton took place and was well patronised. . To-morrow the annual exhibition of the works of the students of the School of Art will be opened at the, School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. His Excellency the Governor and Lady Glasgow will pay a visit to the Lincoln Agricultural College today, leaving Christchurch at 10.15.

The Rev. A. Chodowski, who has returned from Dunedin, wiil deliver his popular lecture on. the "Talmud" in Christchurch in about a fortnight's time. It was received with much interest- in Dunedin.

The Society for Social Ethics will hold a meeting this evening at 8 -p.m. in the Temperance Hall, Gloucester street, :at which all interested will be .welcome.

The next meeting of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce will be held on the afternoon of Friday, the 9th inst.

The Secretary of the Christchurch Hospital desires to acknowledge, with thanks, receipt of a large bundle of London iliustrated papers, from the Pioneer Bicycle Club.
