The Bank of England returns published tc-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £19,262,000, the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 54.40. Consols, 99. Three mouths , bills are discounted at 3 per cent. The market is firm. Four per cent inscribed stock, 107 ; three and a-half, 97£. New Zealand long berried wheat, ex warehouse, 29a ; market flat. South Australian do, 293 Qd ; market weaker. Victoriau do, 29a; quiet. Frozen mutton, iiret quality, 4|d ; second do, 4|d. Lamb, iirst quality, sd. The new season .New Zealand lamb, per Coptic, ie of poor is realising les* than last year's. A shipment of Australian lamb brought 4£d; crosßbrea, 4fd. Sugar, best German beet, 12s fad ; Java, los 3d. v . No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. m Clyde, 43s 6d. " " Danish butter 118s 3d.; market firm. Other eorts unchanged. . The wool market is firmer all round and competition strong.
