A deputation from school teachers waited on the Minister for Education and declared that the proposed stoppage of sick pay was degrading and humiliating. They said they would rather have a reduction made in their wages. The proposal implied that teachers were given to malingering. The Minister replied that they laboured under a misapprehension, and the exigency of the State required the retrenchment.
