AUCKLAND, December 13. Hitchens, of " Bioood restorer "fame, had a narrow escape from poisoning by chloral, taken to induce sleep. He was found unconscious. Three doctors, after using the stomach pump, walking him about, using the electric battery, Sec, tor an hour and a, half, restored him to consciousness and he is now fully recovered. DUNEDIN, December 13. Mr Evans, a resident of the North-east Valley, while attempting to put out a fire received a severe scalp wound eight inches long through tailing against the door post.
